The RFU Council is a governing body of the Rugby Football Union, composed of 62 members who represent the views of the Constituent Bodies who elect them.  The Council plays a crucial role in overseeing the RFU board ensuring they act in the best interests of the sport, they superivse governance of the game, and channel feedback and information between clubs and the RFU. 

Once appointed, Council members are expected to devote around 25 days or more a season to the role, including attending Council meetings and international matches where they are often on duty as ambassaors hosting volunteers. Many Council members bring to the role considerable professional knowledge, as well as experience in running clubs, competitions and rugby programmes.

Lancashire has two representatives on the RFU Council, who are elected by the full voting member clubs of the RFU within the county. Their role is to promote the county's interests while fulfilling their duties as members of the RFU Council.
