The annual Christmas Lancashire Royals v Anti-Assassins challenge match will take place at St Georges Park, Tyldesley RUFC, on Saturday 27th December. All Welcome. 2pm KO.

The Lancashire Royals are the County’s Community Squad selected from Clubs at Level 6 down in the RFU Leagues. This season the Royals open trial took place in November. The Royals play invitational games and since inception over 180 players have been selected and received their Heritage Number.

The Anti-Assassins Rugby Union Football Club (A-As) was founded in 1950 when three Old Sedberghians and members of Bury RUFC, Stewart Faulds, Geoff and Arthur Kenyon, were invited to pick a Northern team to play against the masters and Old Boys (The Assassins) of Sedbergh School, Cumbria. Over the following decades, the A-As continued as an invitational team, selecting players from the northern counties of England to tour or play friendly charitable matches against the Old Boys teams from Sedbergh, Kirkham, Giggleswick and Stonyhurst. In 2004 the A-As teamed up with Wooden Spoon to further promote its charitable work funding projects to support children with disabilities across the UK & Ireland. Past Anti-Assassin players include internationals, British & Irish Lions and England captains.
