Peter Hughes RIP

It is with great sadness we have to announce the passing of Peter Hughes BEM, former Lancashire County RFU President, International Referee and an array of other posts within the game.
Peter was well known not only at his home club Burnley RUFC (formerly Calder Vale) but throughout the County and indeed the Country. A genuine Rugby gent of the highest order, he will be missed by all who knew him. RIP Peter.

Peter Hughes Funeral will take place on Tuesday 23rd December at 10:30, at St Ambrose Church in Leyland, PR25 4XA, followed by a private family cremation.

There will also be a memorial service celebrating Peters life on 3rd February 2026 at 11:00am, at St Peters Church, Burnley, BB11 2DL, followed by lunch at Burnley RUFC where all are welcome.
